I think you've already answered your own question. It's weird that involved higher draft picks the way it did and like I said...I believe he got an $8 million dollar deal done, too. For a backup? Who hasn't played? WTF? They're obviously planning on Hasselbeck dying and turning the keys over to this guy for a season or two, do or die.
As John Clayton said in his mailbag, fucked up things like this are directly related to QBs taken after the first round not being developed very well over the past several years. It's why they UFL is trying to work things out with the NFL as a sort-of farm league. I like the idea. But it won't happen, I'm guessing.
